I love all the tiny things that are done to set up the emotional turn of that ending. Like adding an extra adjective to that penultimate to-do list item: “Steal the beautiful miniature golden bell.”
Glad to not be the only one who would have trouble caring less about an ’80s remake about a self-entitled jackass on a killing spree, plus DC Comics branding…
I’m not a gamer (and I’m on Linux), so I won’t be playing for a while, but the game does sound like my sort of thing. Maybe one day…
Thanks to YouTube, you can see pretty much everything from every video game now. Here’s the ending of the game, which, given that you listened to the episode, you’ve already had spoiled:

(As for the Joker movie, I for one am actually interested in seeing it at some point to see what the fuss is all about. Anyone who’s actually seen it might as well use the comments on this podcast to talk about it, though, as I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for us to discuss it on the show.)
Oh, to be clear, I wasn’t bemoaning my lack of access (which wouldn’t be at all hard to fix) so much as thanking the group for drawing my attention to the game’s existence.
Of course, in going down the digression of not playing the game, I forgot the thing I actually came to the page to say, which is that I went to high school with someone whose grandparents met because grandpa punched a goose that was menacing grandma in a park. So, yeah, they can get pretty mean, especially during brooding season.
I love it how in the Dark Knight podcast, we dropped a huge spoiler for The Wire, and in this episode, the spiritual sequel, we dropped a huge spoiler for Psycho.
In case anyone wants to relive that classic OTIP moment: https://www.overthinkingit.com/2008/08/04/episode-10-the-dark-knight/
I think I remember frantically skipping over that because I hadn’t watched The Wire yet.
(Spoilers: I have still not watched The Wire)
