I got a huge X-Men vibe from this season. Eleven is basically Jean Gray at this point. She’s gone through the Phoenix Saga and the Hellfire Club. Days of Future Past must be coming soon.
Maybe this was too on the nose or maybe I’m just now watching this season of Stranger Things and wanted to point it out, but the JVC camcorder is a pretty clear nod to Back to the Future, which seems like the only conceivable reference the show could make that wouldn’t completely break the reality of the series. (Unless Ernest Cline rolls up into Hawkins in season 3 driving a Delorean.)
Whoops, pretend I posted this in the comments for episode 487. Carry on.
