I think Ryan was right when he rejected the script. The movie made less than a million dollars in the theaters. This brings up the idea of when a movie it good for theaters and when a movie is good for home viewing.

My camp experience happened because a female friend in high school invited me to join her as a staff volunteer at the Christian kids and family camp she had attended for many years. I may have hoped we would experience some “camp time” together, but it turned out that my camp relationship was with a different girl entirely. In any case, for the summers after my sophomore and junior years, I got to see how the longtime campers would get through a week at camp, including a special week when families came and stayed together, and had done so almost since the parents were kids.

By the way, sorry that Belinkie didn’t learn about Ecclesiastes at Jewish summer camp. :-) Chapter 3 begins, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” A longtime coworker of mine told me that she and her daughter had their own fond memories of summer at Jewish camp in the Catskills.
