I haven’t listened to this record, because I don’t like Sufjan Stevens’ music in the slightest, but I still wanted to chime in as somebody who was raised Catholic, but has seen it go away 100 percent. You do hear that about Catholics, a lot, to the extent people who no longer practice are often called “lapsed Catholics” as opposed to just being considered no longer Catholic. I guess that can be chalked up to the arrogance of that particular religious branch that I hold such great contempt for. There is a reason Protestantism exists, you know? For people who want chiller Catholicism with more women and also maybe not communion? I don’t know much about Protestantism. I’m basing that fact on a joke from The Simpsons, the one true religion.
