My Skype cut out before I got to point out the return of why I got into this crazy game to begin with – discussion of early 20th Century British property law!!

Also: Mrs. Padmore’s mixer should get its own tumbler (a la Mrs. Hughes’ toaster)

Does anyone else get the sense that Daisy is Downton Abbey’s version of Peggy from Mad Men?

I guess because she starts out as a somewhat meek underdog and gradually shows more ambition as the show goes on. The actress also looks kind of similar.

Downton Abbey time moves when the plot needs it to move, and likewise outside political events seem to only happen when they need to, plot-wise. As much as I get where the show is focusing, it was a bit sad to have the first quarter of 1922 go by with no mention from Branson of Irish current events.

With respect to Mary’s role in the family, I’d like to add the fact that previously, her role was to find a husband and produce an heir, and now that she did that and the husband died, she’s helping to run the show, and she seems (at least in this episode) entirely *dis*-interested in her role as mother.
