We started OverthinkingIt.com on January 22, 2008, with only a rough idea of what we were trying to accomplish: talk about pop culture in our unique way, and amuse ourselves. We had even less of an idea as to how long this would last. Five days? Sure, we can do that. Five months? Maybe… but we’ve had other great ideas fizzle out in shorter time. Five YEARS? That’s just crazy talk.
And yet. Thousands of posts, and millions of visitors later, we’re still here! Somewhere along the way, we found our voice, and we attracted an enthusiastic and brilliant audience who not only shared our quirky way of enjoying pop culture but also engaged with us and formed a community around this thing we call Overthinking It.
We’re using the occasion of our fifth birthday to celebrate this achievement, together. If you live in or around New York City, we’d love it if you could join us on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 9 PM for a little celebration at the 11th Street Bar in the East Village.
There will be cake. And no, the cake is not a lie.
Please RSVP on our Facebook event to let us know if you’re coming! It’s not required, but it will help us know how much cake to get. I told you there’d be cake.
In summary:
You are cordially invited to the
OverthinkingIt.com Fifth Birthday Party
Saturday, January 26, 2013
9 PM until we all fall over
11th Street Bar (510 East 11th Street, between Ave A and Ave B), Back Room
New York, NY
UPDATE: There will be a karaoke after party, probably starting at around midnight! Location TBD, but if you think you want to join for that, definitely let us know on the Facebook page.
I don’t know if this makes a difference for anyone, but I’m flying from LA to New York for this.
And we’ll probably record some live stuff for the week’s podcasts.
Bummer… I’ll be out of the city that weekend.
I’ll be there in spirit only. Ohio’s a little too far away for me to make it.
