Estragon: Well, shall we talk about the Oscars®?
Vladimir: Yes, let’s talk about the Oscars®.
(They do not talk about the Oscars®.)
The Overthinkers troll Wikipedia for dirty pictures, discuss the nature of the umlaut, and eventually get around to talking about the Oscars®. Almost.
Tell us what you think! Call 20-EAT-LOG-01… that’s (203) 285-6401. And do us a favor and take the very short survey!
You joke about the idea of Hugh Jackman getting murdered as a plotline for the Oscars, but check out Joan Rivers’ new book:
“Murder at the Academy Awards: A Red Carpet Murder Mystery”

Wow.
Just to be clear, the summary is an exaggeration. We do talk about the Oscars, and we don’t troll the Internet for dirty pictures. We come across something on Wikipedia sort of by accident.
Anne Hathaway sings in _The Princess Diaries_ (an entire Queen song) in the middle, and a bit at the end; and she does have a few lines in a song in the second _Princess Diaries_ (along with the girl from _That’s So Raven_- a blatant, but failed, push by Disney to try and manufacture another pop singer by inserting her in their film for no reason).
YES, I saw Jackman’s _Oklahoma_ (on DVD), and it IS good, so don’t make fun of it! But really, why does him flying through the air at a helicopter delegitimize him as an action star? Don’t other actors that are “legitimate” action stars do all sorts of crazy and impossible-looking things and WITHOUT the addition of being superhuman (i.e. a mutant)? The way at least the film mythos of _X-Men_ goes makes way for some rather spectacularly agile stuff for him- he jumps around and shows a super-level of dexterity in them quite often.
Wait, writers and scripts for WWE? Match-ups on a board? Are you saying professional wrestling ISN’T REAL?!
Fenzel, you thought _Twilight_ (the book) was good? Please, oh please tell me why? I don’t want a harsh back-and-forth- I’m genuinely surprised you would use the words “good young adult fiction” to describe it.
Thank you, Stokes, for putting why making fun of Phoenix if it really is a mental collapse of some sort is a bad thing- taking pleasure in seeing it happen in someone else is NOT okay.
_B-5_ references YES!
Hugh Jackman : Jumping into/onto a helicopter in X-Men Origins :: Bruce Willis : Jumping onto a fighter jet in Die Hard 4.
I guess Stokes is arguing that Jackman is crossing over into low-quality, over-the-top, formulaic action movie territory. When I saw that trailer, I did think it was pretty over the top, but I wouldn’t write off the entire film as junk just based on that. It couldn’t be worse than X-Men 3, could it?
Well, I suppose it could.
